A long day in the saddle, deserves a beer. 80 miles today and 5 punctures for Pexton and Atherton. Weather gradually improved and so did the hills.

left Tynemouth this morning taking the kids to school on the way to work, sort of the same atmosphere that I'm hoping for tomorrow morning in Blackheath, but perhaps with more singing.

Joining a growing pile of gear under my desk, the prospect of cycling across london carrying all this is starting to look more daunting than the L2P.

they believe in calling a spade a spade here in the north east. Next weekend there is a choice between the "Durham Beast" (the hills are a beast) or "The Hell of The North" at Darlington, what a superb name for a country bike ride.

Bank Holiday Training

with only a few weeks to go the pressure is on to try and get some miles in. This weekend was the Great North Bike Ride which is a sedate 60 mile ride down the Northumbrian Coast. I think I get to count double miles for this one. In the photo is my 7 year old son Sam enjoying the tow; the consensus from our riders on the day was "that's cheating", but if you've ever towed one of these things you'll know its not!
